Description

Metso HP400 Main Frame Pin Bushing: 1022133692 OEM Replacement

The Main Frame Pin Bushing (Part # 1022133692) is a critical structural component for the Metso HP400 cone crusher. Unlike the hydrodynamic bronze bearings used in the drive train, this specific bushing is engineered for static load alignment. It is installed in the Main Frame flange to seat the heavy-duty Locating Pins (Frame Pins). These pins prevent the Adjustment Ring from rotating relative to the Main Frame during high-torque crushing operations.

While only weighing 2kg, this component protects the most expensive part of your crusher: the Main Frame. We manufacture this bushing from High-Tensile Manganese Bronze (ASTM C86300 / CuZn25Al5Fe3Mn3). This alloy is selected for its extreme compressive yield strength (>400 MPa), ensuring that the locating pins do not wallow out the housing bores under the intense vibration of crushing hard granite or taconite.

Material Science: Why Manganese Bronze?

[Engineer’s Note] A common misconception is that all yellow parts in a crusher are “bronze bearings.” This Frame Pin Bushing is NOT a leaded tin bronze (like C93700 used for eccentric bushings). Leaded bronze is too soft (70 HB) and would deform instantly under the shear load of the frame pins.

We use High-Strength Brass (Manganese Bronze) because:

  • Impact Resistance: It withstands the “hammering” effect of the adjustment ring vibrating against the frame pins without cracking.
  • Sacrificial Wear: It is significantly harder than leaded bronze but softer than the Cast Steel Main Frame. It is designed to wear out instead of the frame bore. Replacing a $100 bushing is far cheaper than line-boring a $50,000 Main Frame.

Field Diagnosis: When to Replace

Neglecting these small bushings can lead to “Adjustment Ring Hop” and thread damage. Inspect during liner changes:

1. Pin Looseness
Grab the Frame Pin. If it wiggles by hand, the bushing ID is worn out. This allows the Adjustment Ring to shift under load, causing thread fretting.

2. Ovalization
Measure the ID of the bushing. If it is oval by more than 0.5mm, it must be replaced. An oval bushing cannot hold the pin perpendicular, leading to misalignment of the Bowl Assembly.

3. Cracking
If the bushing is cracked, it indicates the frame pin was loose and impact-loading the bushing. Check the pin diameter as well.

Installation & Maintenance

[Pro-Tip] This is an interference-fit component.

  1. Removal: Old bushings often need to be carefully cut out or pulled with a slide hammer. Be careful not to score the Main Frame bore.
  2. Installation: Freeze the new bushing in Liquid Nitrogen or Dry Ice for at least 2 hours. It should drop into the frame bore by hand. DO NOT hammer it in at room temperature, as Manganese Bronze work-hardens and can crack or gall the frame.
  3. Lubrication: Coat the ID with anti-seize compound before installing the steel Frame Pin to facilitate future disassembly.
