Description
Metso Cone Crusher Eccentric Assembly: Precision OEM Spares
The Eccentric Assembly is the “heartbeat” of Metso HP and GP series cone crushers. It converts the rotary motion of the pinion shaft into the gyratory crushing action of the main shaft. This assembly is not just a heavy casting; it is a dynamically balanced precision instrument that dictates the crusher’s throw (stroke) and capacity. Unlike sacrificial Wear parts, the eccentric is designed for long-term fatigue resistance.
As specialized crusher part suppliers, we supply complete Eccentric Assemblies including the eccentric casting, upper/lower bushings, and the bolted counterweight guard, engineered to OEM tolerances for perfect interchangeability.

Performance Engineering: Throw & Balance
The efficiency of a Metso crusher relies on two critical factors managed by the Eccentric Assembly:
- Variable Throw: On HP series crushers, the eccentric bushing bore is offset to create the specific “throw” (e.g., Standard, Coarse, Extra Coarse). Our assemblies are precision machined to exact offset coordinates to ensure the Closed Side Setting (CSS) behaves predictably.
- Counterweight Integration: The assembly includes mounting points for the Counterweight. Improper balance here leads to violent frame vibration. Our units are dynamically balanced to eliminate “crusher hop” during no-load operation.
Field Diagnosis: The “Bronze Flash” in Oil
Your oil filter tells the story of your eccentric.
The Symptom: Inspect the return oil filter element.
Scenario A (Normal): Fine, dust-like bronze particles. This is normal break-in wear.
Scenario B (Danger): Large, flake-like “glitter” or strips of bronze. This is “Bronze Flash.”
The Diagnosis: This indicates the hydrodynamic oil wedge has failed, and the eccentric bushing is making metal-to-metal contact with the main shaft or frame. Stop immediately. The eccentric bushing has likely spun or melted.
Supply Chain & Installation
We recommend replacing the Eccentric Bushing and Upper Thrust Bearing whenever a new Eccentric Assembly is installed. We supply these as a pre-assembled kit to reduce site downtime.
Expert Engineer’s Note: Gear Backlash
Installation Critical: When installing the Eccentric Assembly, you are also resetting the gear mesh (Backlash) between the eccentric gear and the pinion. You must verify the backlash (typically 0.4-0.8mm depending on size) and the root clearance. Failing to shim the countershaft box correctly after changing the eccentric will strip the $10,000 gear set in under a week.
“Authoritative Engineering Data: All critical metallurgical specifications and dimensional tolerances (e.g., ±0.05mm) are strictly governed by the master English documentation. While localized versions are provided for operational reference, the English original remains the sole binding authority for quality inspection and technical compliance.”
