Description
FLSmidth Raptor Cone Crusher Main Shaft: Forged OEM Spares
The Main Shaft is the dynamic heart of the FLSmidth Raptor Series (XL300, XL400, XL500, XL1100, XL2000). Unlike sacrificial Wear parts, this is a fatigue-critical component engineered to transmit massive torque and compressive loads. We supply precision-forged replacements that match the exact DIN/ISO specifications required for Raptor’s high-speed crushing action.
As a specialized crusher parts manufacturer, we utilize Vacuum Degassed (VD) alloy steel to ensure superior cleanliness (K3 < 10), guaranteeing fatigue resistance in high-stress applications like iron ore crushing.
Technical Specifications & Metallurgy
We adhere to strict DIN standards for heavy forgings. The following specifications apply to our Raptor compatible main shafts.

Manufacturing Excellence: The Raptor Standard
The Raptor shaft is unique due to its integral spline design.
Induction Hardening: We selectively harden the bearing journals to 55 HRC to resist scoring from bushing debris, while leaving the spline section tougher (32 HRC) to prevent brittle fracture under torque spikes.
Shot Peening: We apply controlled shot peening to the stress-relief grooves and spline roots. This induces compressive residual stress, increasing fatigue life by 30% against the cyclic bending loads of the Raptor’s high-throw eccentric.
Field Diagnosis: The “Spline Fretting” Check
The spline connects the shaft to the eccentric. It is a wear point.
The Symptom: Inspect the spline teeth during overhaul. If you see “steps” or “pitting” on the drive side of the teeth, this is Fretting Wear.
The Limit: If the spline tooth thickness is worn by more than 0.5mm, the shaft must be replaced. Excessive backlash will cause shock loading that can snap the shaft or strip the eccentric gear.
Supply Chain & Quality Assurance
Each shaft is delivered with a complete quality dossier, including:
- EN 10204 3.1 Material Certificate (Chemical & Mechanical)
- Ultrasonic Test Report (SEP 1921 Group 3 Class C)
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) Report for cracks
- Dimensional Inspection Report (CMM)
Expert Engineer’s Note: Oil Analysis
Pro Tip: High copper/lead levels in your oil analysis often point to bushing wear, but high Iron (Fe) and Chromium (Cr) levels usually indicate the Main Shaft journal is being eaten away. If you see Fe/Cr spikes, stop and inspect the shaft immediately. A scored shaft will destroy a new set of bushings in hours.
“Authoritative Engineering Data: All critical metallurgical specifications and dimensional tolerances (e.g., ±0.05mm) are strictly governed by the master English documentation. While localized versions are provided for operational reference, the English original remains the sole binding authority for quality inspection and technical compliance.”
