Sandvik CH Series Locating Bar | Steel Anti-Rotation Key for Bushings
The Locating Bar (often referred to as the Bushing Key) is a small but vital safety component in the Sandvik CH series cone crusher. While it works in direct contact with the Bronze Eccentric Bushing and Bottom Shell Bushing, the bar itself is manufactured from High-Tensile Steel. Its primary function is to lock the bushing in place, preventing it from spinning within the housing.
As a specialized crusher parts supplier, we understand that a failure of this inexpensive key can lead to catastrophic damage. If the Locating Bar shears, the bronze bushing will rotate with the main shaft, cutting off the oil supply holes and causing the machine to seize (“burn up”). Our Locating Bars are precision-machined to exact OEM dimensions to ensure a tight interference fit within the keyway.
Core Function: The “Anti-Spin” Mechanism
In the Hydrocone design, the bushings are “floating” but must not rotate.
- Torque Resistance: The viscous drag of the oil between the spinning main shaft and the stationary bushing creates massive torque. The Locating Bar absorbs this torque.
- Oil Alignment: The bushing has oil holes that must align with the oil supply lines in the bottom shell. The Locating Bar ensures this alignment is maintained. If the bar breaks, the bushing spins, the holes misalign, and lubrication stops instantly.
Engineer’s Maintenance Advice (Information Gain)
Diagnostic: Checking Keyway Wear
When replacing an Eccentric Bushing, you must inspect the Locating Bar and its slot.
- Never Reuse: The Locating Bar is a low-cost item. Always install a new one with a new bushing. Reusing a worn bar introduces “backlash.”
- The “Hammer” Effect: If there is any gap (play) between the bar and the bushing slot, the oscillating motion of the crusher will hammer the bar back and forth. This will eventually widen the slot in the expensive Eccentric Steel Casting.
- Material Warning: Do NOT fabricate this part from soft mild steel or bronze. It will shear under load. Use proper key stock (C45 or 42CrMo) with correct yield strength.
