Description
Metso HP Series Bronze Frame Seat Liner: Precision Mainframe Protection
The Bronze Frame Seat Liner (Part No. 048516271 / 1048514410 Suit) is the critical friction interface between the Main Frame and the Adjustment Ring on Metso HP300, HP400, and HP500 cone crushers.
Acting as a sacrificial bearing surface, this bronze liner allows the Adjustment Ring to rotate smoothly during setting changes (CSS adjustment) and lift during “Tramp Release” events.
Unlike generic crusher spares, our liners are manufactured from High-Lead Tin Bronze to prevent “galling” against the steel Main Frame Pins, ensuring the safety system never seizes when you need it most.
For mining maintenance teams sourcing from hp crusher parts suppliers, the lubricity of this component is paramount.
If the Seat Liner seizes, the Tramp Release cylinders cannot lift the bowl to clear a blockage, leading to catastrophic frame damage.
Our liners are centrifugally cast to ensure a dense, defect-free grain structure capable of supporting the massive weight of the Bowl assembly.
Core Engineering Advantages
- Anti-Seize Metallurgy: Manufactured from UNS C93700 (SAE 64) High-Lead Bronze. The 10-20% Lead content acts as a solid lubricant, allowing the Adjustment Ring to slide even if the grease lubrication is marginal. Standard Aluminum Bronze is too hard and will weld to the frame pins under load.
- Vibration Damping: The soft leaded bronze matrix absorbs the high-frequency vibrations transmitted from the crushing chamber, preventing fretting corrosion (contact rust) on the Main Frame seating surface.
- Precision Machining: CNC machined to a flatness tolerance of < 0.05mm. This ensures uniform load distribution across all Main Frame Pins, preventing point-loading that can crack the Adjustment Ring.

Performance & Wear Analysis
Upgrading to premium centrifugally cast Frame Seat Liners directly impacts crusher availability:
- Adjustment Reliability: A worn or rough Seat Liner increases friction. This causes the hydraulic motors to stall when trying to turn the bowl for CSS adjustment. Our smooth-finish bronze restores “one-touch” automation.
- Frame Protection: By acting as a sacrificial fuse, the bronze liner wears out instead of the expensive cast steel Main Frame. Regular replacement (every 8,000 – 12,000 hours) is a fraction of the cost of frame repair.
Field Diagnosis: When to Replace?
The Seat Liner is often hidden, but its failure signs are visible:
- “Bowl Hop”: If the Adjustment Ring moves erratically or “hops” during crushing, the Seat Liner may be worn unevenly, causing the ring to rock on the frame pins.
- Stalled Adjustment: If the hydraulic motors torque out and cannot turn the bowl, but the threads are clean, the Seat Liner friction is too high. It likely has galled spots.
- Bronze Flakes: Visible bronze dust or flakes around the Main Frame seating area indicates the liner is disintegrating due to lack of grease or excessive vibration.
Expert Engineer’s Note: Installation & Greasing
Critical Maintenance Advice: When installing new Bronze Seat Liners, you must clean the Main Frame Pins thoroughly.
Any rust or old grease ridges will score the new bronze instantly.
Apply a liberal coat of Molybdenum Disulfide (Moly) Grease to the liner surface before setting the Adjustment Ring down.
Do not run dry!
The Seat Liner relies on a grease film to allow the “Tramp Release” lift.
If it runs dry, the Ring will fuse to the Frame, and the next piece of tramp iron will break the crusher.
