Heavy-Duty Thrust Bearings for Roller-Bearing Cone Crushers
The Thrust Bearing Assembly is the critical load-bearing component in “Rollercone” style crushers (e.g., Terex Cedarapids, Telsmith, El Jay). It supports the immense vertical weight of the cone head and mantle, plus the dynamic force of crushing rock. Unlike bronze step washers which rely on oil film lift, these roller bearings provide zero-friction rotation at startup and operate cooler under load.
Our replacement bearings are engineered to withstand the unique shock loading of crushing applications. We utilize Case-Hardened Steel for the races and rollers. This provides a super-hard surface (HRC 60+) to resist fatigue spalling, while retaining a tough, ductile core to absorb impact without shattering.
Key Features: Optimized for Crushing
- Logarithmic Roller Profile: The rollers are not perfectly cylindrical; they feature a slight logarithmic curve. This distributes stress evenly across the contact length, preventing “edge loading” which causes premature failure.
- Brass Cages: We use heavy-duty machined brass cages. These are far superior to stamped steel cages, offering better guidance for the rollers and handling the high centrifugal forces of the eccentric motion.
- True Rolling Motion: The tapered design ensures true rolling motion at all points of contact, minimizing sliding friction and heat generation.
Compatible Series
Designed for machines that utilize roller thrust bearings:
- Terex / Cedarapids MVP, RC (Rollercone) Series
- Telsmith SBS / SBX Series
- El Jay RC45, RC54, RC60
Installation Expert Advice
[Pro-Tip] Setting the correct End Float (Axial Clearance) is critical.
1. Too Tight: The bearing will overheat and seize within minutes.
2. Too Loose: The rollers will skid instead of rolling, leading to flat spots.
Always use the exact shim pack thickness recommended in your crusher manual (typically 0.05 – 0.12mm depending on model). Cleanliness is also vital; a single grain of sand can destroy a roller bearing.
