Description

Cone Crusher Bronze Socket Liner – Symons & Sandvik CS Series Spares

The Bronze Socket Liner (also known as the Socket Sealing Ring or Head Seat) is the primary load-bearing interface in Symons-style cone crushers.
Situated within the steel Socket Assembly, this concave bronze bearing supports the full weight of the Main Shaft and Head Assembly.
Unlike simple bushings, the Socket Liner must facilitate the crushing head’s complex gyratory motion while maintaining a hydrostatic oil film under extreme vertical compression.

As a specialized crusher parts supplier, we utilize Centrifugal Casting technology to manufacture liners that exceed the density and longevity of standard sand-cast parts.
Our liners are engineered to prevent “Head Spin” and ensure consistent crushing geometry for Symons 3ft–7ft and Sandvik CS series machines.

Core Engineering Advantages

Generic bronze liners often fail due to porosity or poor machining of the spherical radius. Our crusher spares are engineered for reliability.

  • Premium Metallurgy: Manufactured from UNS C93700 High-Lead Tin Bronze (SAE 64).
Containing 8-10% Lead, this alloy offers superior lubricity compared to standard SAE 660, providing critical protection against seizing during crusher startup or temporary lubrication pressure drops.
  • Spherical Precision: The concave bearing surface is CNC machined to a specific spherical radius with a tolerance of ±0.02mm.
This ensures 100% contact area with the Head Ball, preventing “point loading” which leads to rapid wear and instability.
  • Optimized Oil Distribution: Features precision-cut oil grooves (X-pattern or radial) designed to maintain a robust oil wedge, effectively dissipating the heat generated by friction.

Performance & Maintenance Diagnosis

The Socket Liner is the “fuse” of your crusher’s head support system. Monitoring it prevents catastrophic failure.

  • The “Head Spin” Indicator: If the crushing head spins rapidly (>15 RPM) when the crusher is idling (no feed), the Socket Liner is likely seizing against the Head Ball.
This indicates insufficient oil clearance or liner distortion. Immediate inspection is required.
  • Wear Pattern Analysis: Upon removal, inspect the liner surface.
A uniform matte finish indicates good operation.
“Polished” spots or deep gouges indicate metal-to-metal contact caused by oil failure or a warped Head Ball.
  • Replacement Criteria: Replace the liner if the oil grooves are worn down to <3mm depth, or if the "Step" wear exceeds the OEM tolerance (typically 2-3mm), which affects the seal compression.

Expert Installation Guidance

Fitment is Critical: When installing a new Bronze Socket Liner, it must be an interference fit in the steel Socket.
Use Dry Ice to shrink the liner before insertion.
Crucial Step: After installation, check the contact pattern with the Head Ball using “Prussian Blue” paste.
You should achieve >80% contact. If not, the liner must be hand-scraped or the Head Ball re-machined. Failing to do this causes immediate point-loading failure.
